1) Laboratory of Pollutant Identification and Traceability

Aiming at the core scientific problem ofidentification of eco-environmental damage, the systematic research was carried out around three key technologies: Rapid tracing of typical pollutants, accurate quantification of pollution exposure, and exploration of new pollutants. It mainly includes highly sensitive detection of pollutants, fingerprint identification of pollutants, on-site detection and sensing technology, pollutant traceability, environmental pollutant screening and identification methods, etc. In the field of application, aiming at the major needs of the country, the research on eco-environmental forensics (Water resources, Atmosphere, Soil, Ocean, etc.) will be carried out.

2) Laboratory of Eco-Effect Research:

Based on the research of traditional biological toxicology, environmental toxicology and other topics, combining with the methods and technologies of Environmental Science and Ecology, the environmental changes caused by environmental pollution events, construction projects,development activities and their impacts on human beings, wildlife and ecosystem are quantitatively identified at different time and space scales, which provide the theoretical basis and technical support on evaluation quantification, control, restoration and compensation of ecological effects of environmental damage as well as the identification of eco-environment damage.

3Laboratory of Eco-environment Damage and Health Effects:

Based on environmental monitoring, environmental epidemiology, environmental toxicology and other topics, screening pollutants, determining the scope of pollution, and identifying the characteristic and non-characteristic hazards, exposure routes and other possible health effects of pollutants in pollution events. Besides, according to the relationship of dose-response of toxicants, and combine with the demographic data, incidence rate, mortality rate and exposure assessment data, the health risk assessment will be conducted to assess the hazards of pollution events to the exposed population and the health risk management will be carried out.

4Laboratory of Accounting of Ecological Resources

The research of accounting of ecological Resources is one of the five key research directions in Institute of Eco-Environmental Forensics of Shandong University in 2019, which mainly includes the secondary discipline direction of Ecosystem Service Value Accounting, the Realization Mechanism Mode of Ecological Product Value and Theoretical Method of Ecological Civilization Evaluation.

Research direction:

Relying on the basis of natural resources and ecology, and benefitting from the advanced methods and concepts of international accounting of ecological resources, we mainly study on

·The accounting technology system of ecological resources assets to promote the theoretical exploration and practical application of ecosystem value accounting.

·The target path of realizing the value of ecological products, the policy guarantees of realizing the value of ecological products etc. to establish the mechanism of realizing the value of ecological products.

·Theories and methods of ecological civilization assessment and international comparison of ecological civilization assessment to analyze the overall situation of ecological civilization and international position, the weaknesses and constraints of ecological civilization development, and dynamic changes and its cause of ecological civilization development in China.

The research team has undertaken more than 30 national and industrial special projects and carried out the accounting and ecological compensation research of forest, grassland, farmland, water, ocean and other ecological resources assets, including the major consulting projects, such as

·"Research on several strategic issues of ecological civilization construction (I-IV)” (2013-2018)

·"Overall strategy and key tasks of the 13th five-year plan” (2013)

·“Research on long-term mechanism of ecological compensation of Sanjiangyuan” (2012)

·The high-end think tank project of "Value realization of ecological products" of Chinese Academy of Engineering” (2018)

·"Cultivate new energy for green development" (2018)

·"Promote the construction of ecological civilization, promote green development and recycling development and low-carbon development" (2017)

·The major special project of “Assessment of ecological environment function in vulnerable areas” of Ministry of Environmental Protection (2016)

·The pilot project of ecological civilization in experimental area of "Xiamen ecosystem value accounting" (2017)

These projects provide the important theoretical and technical support for the national management of ecological resources.

Research Achievements:

As the main author, the team member wrote a number of proposals, such as “Adhere to green development, build a beautiful China, create a new era of socialist ecological civilization", "Adhere to green development, strengthen the construction of Ecological Civilization -- Fujian Ecological civilization first demonstration experience and suggestions", "Suggestions on" innovation of ecological resource assets and ecological civilization construction and development mode in Sanjiangyuan ecological source areas" etc.

The consultation report and policy suggestions are approved by the national leaders or provincial and ministerial leaders, and submitted to the National Council of High-end Think Tanks. Besides,more than ten series of national key engineering works have been published, such as

“Research and evaluation of national ecological civilization construction index system”, “Overall strategy and 13th five-year plan task of ecological civilization construction”, “Research on several strategic issues of China's ecological civilization construction”.

Furthermore, more than 100 academic papers have been published in top journals, such as “Journal of Cleaner Production”, “Ecological Indicators”, “Science of the Total Environment”, “Environmental Science & Policy” etc.

5)Laboratory of Law and Policy on Eco-Environmental Forensics:

On the basis of Environmental Law, Evidence Law and Procedural Law, the research on evidence rules, qualification requirements of identification institutions, identification procedures and verification technologies of environmental litigation will be carried out to establish a series of laws, standards, guidelines and management rules for Eco-Environmental Forensics in China. Besides, learning from the research achievements of Environmental Science and Ecology in eco-environment damage, the traditional Evidence Law will be promoted to the Evidence Science with the objective of judicial identification of eco-environmental damage.

At the same time, the Environment and Resource Protection Law, the Evidence Law and the Procedure Law should be promoted to seek a breakthrough of discipline innovation and development in the combination with the new field of environmental litigation.
